David Bennett

David brings more than 20 years’ experience across strategy, marketing, communications and stakeholder engagement, with a career spanning transport, media, government and financial services. He began his career with Transdev working on Sydney Light Rail, later moving into journalism with 2GB and communications and strategy roles with RailCorp (now Transport for NSW).
David has held senior corporate communications roles with National Australia Bank and Westpac, building expertise in governance, risk and corporate strategy. He also served for 10 years as a Board Director of the Sydney Bus Museum, where he led the successful relocation and reopening of the museum at Leichhardt in 2016, working closely with government stakeholders to secure support and approvals.
At Transport Heritage NSW, David has played a key leadership role in growing the organisation’s presence, strengthening government and sector partnerships, and delivering award-winning public programs. He brings a unique blend of commercial, government and heritage experience and is committed to supporting a sustainable, community-focused transport heritage sector for NSW.
